The importance of keeping drains clear from roots

Tree roots naturally seek out water, which means drains and underground pipework can become an attractive target. Small cracks or joints in pipes can allow roots to enter, where they can continue to grow and eventually cause serious blockages.

As roots become larger, they can restrict the flow of wastewater, leading to slow-draining pipes, unpleasant smells, overflowing drains and, in more severe cases, costly repairs or damaged pipework.

Regular drain inspections and maintenance can help identify root intrusion before it becomes a major problem. Removing roots and keeping your drainage system clear helps maintain good flow and can prevent unexpected blockages and disruption.

The images are a great example of just how much root growth can find its way into a drainage system!

Don’t wait for a blocked drain to become an emergency — regular maintenance can save time, money and hassle in the long run.
